Dr. Dmitri Pechkovsky is a highly accomplished biomedical scientist and physician with over 30 years of experience at the intersection of academic research, clinical medicine, and industrial innovation. Based in Vancouver, Canada, he offers deep domain expertise in biochemistry, immunology, respiratory pathology, systems biology, regenerative medicine, oncology, and cannabinoid-based therapeutics. Dr. Pechkovsky’s career spans senior roles in both academic and industry settings, where he has consistently demonstrated leadership in translational research, development of screening platforms, and support for preclinical drug development.

He earned his PhD from the Medical University of Belarus, with a specialization in internal medicine, immunology, and respiratory science. He is widely recognized for his ability to integrate complex biological systems into actionable insights for therapeutic development, regulatory strategy, and commercial evaluation.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Pechkovsky conducted pioneering research as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the University of Freiburg in Germany. There, he was among the first to implicate alternatively activated macrophages in pulmonary fibrosis. He also worked extensively in infectious diseases and pulmonary immunology at the Research Center Borstel (Germany) and served as a Respirologist and Clinical Research Lead in Belarus, where he represented the country as a national delegate to the European Respiratory Society.

At the University of British Columbia (UBC), where he spent over 17 years, Dr. Pechkovsky led research focused on molecular inflammation, wound healing, and fibroproliferative mechanisms. He played a key role in the development of ex vivo and in vitro test systems for lung, cardiovascular, skin, and oncological diseases, including platforms for screening drug candidates and diagnostic biomarkers.

Since 2014, Dr. Pechkovsky has served as a Consultant for GLG (Gerson Lehrman Group), advising clients in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and healthcare investment sectors. His focus areas include lung pathology and respiratory disorders such as COPD, asthma, and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He provides strategic guidance grounded in direct experience with cellular signaling, fibrosis models, immunomodulation, and drug response evaluation.

In the biotech industry, he has held senior scientific roles at Veritas Pharma Inc. and InMed Pharmaceuticals. There, he directed laboratory operations and R&D programs, including the design and validation of screening platforms for phytocannabinoids, cytotoxicity profiling across multiple cancer cell lines, and preclinical testing of cannabinoid-based therapeutics.
